Chastinsky District (Russian: Частинский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion) of Perm Krai, Russia; one of the thirty-three in the krai. Municipally, it is incorporated as Chastinsky Municipal District. The area of the district is 1,632 square kilometers (630 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Chastye.[1] District's population: 12,821 (2010 Census preliminary results);[3] 14,675 (2002 Census);[4] 14,791 (1989 Census).[7] Population of Chastye accounts for 34.3% of the district's population.[4]

Geography and climate

About 34% of the district's area is forested; the forests are mostly coniferous.[2] Natural resources include oil and peat.[2] The climate is temperate continental.[2]

History

The district was established on January 13, 1924, although its borders kept changing until December 30, 1968.[2]

Demographics

Ethnic composition: Russians: 96.4%; Udmurt people: 0.8%, Tatars: 0.6%.[2]

Economy

The economy of the District is based on agriculture.
